When I first read this striking story, I began to think of the many families, world wide, that take on the responsibility of elderly relatives that cannot take care of themselves, they truly are remarkable people. Then again, of course, there are those that don’t, but who are we to judge, right!
I remembered from my own experiences that it could be very hard, much of the time but, it could also be very rewarding.
Again, we are talking here about human beings and not some stray animal, which most folk would not hesitate to take in and care for!
However, the Lord Jesus’ words immediately came to mind, “Do unto others as you would want them to do unto you!”
I just wondered, how many of those grown up children and grand-children out there will treat their elderly relatives with kindness, patience and respect? Just maybe, they will come across this wonderful story above and ask themselves, “Who will take care of me when I get old and frail? Will they be kind or abusive to me?”
Baring this in mind, will they take the right steps and make a place at their table for some old loved ones and obey the Lord Jesus’ Command to “Do unto others as you would want them to do unto you!
Whether you do choose to take care of your family members in their old age or even following a serious illness, such as a Stroke, just consider this, you just might be the topic of some young relative’s thoughts and long tern decision making!
